Chairman Luo Yan Attends 13th Asia-Europe Economic Forum

From November 4 to 5, 2012 Laos Time, Luo Yan, chairman of CAMCE, attended the 13th Asia-Europe Economic Forum in Vientiane, capital of Laos.

    On the morning of November 4, Luo was present at the opening ceremony of the Asia-Europe Economic Forum on behalf of CAMCE. At the ceremony, Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong delivered a welcome speech, saying the global economy is facing multiple challenges, especially the financial crisis that has brought about tremendous difficulties to economic development, sincerely hoping the forum will seek a more suitable way for Asia-Europe economic, trade and investment cooperation.

    On the afternoon, as a forum guest, along with several others from Laos, Myanmar, India, Austria and the EU, Luo participated in a sub-forum discussion. Under the theme of discussing and looking into the cooperation and development of the Greater Mekong Sub-region, the guests aired their opinions. Luo introduced CAMCE’s development in Laos and Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on its “Vientiane New World” project in Laos, suggested that Asian and European countries should cement financial cooperation to solve financing problems and increase the investment in transport infrastructure construction with a focus on airport construction, and hoped that direct routes are launched among tourist destinations in the region.

    On the night, Luo attended a banquet, receiving the contribution award from the Lao National Chamber of Industry and Commerce on behalf of CAMCE, a platinum sponsor for the Asia-Europe Economic Forum.

    On the morning of November 5, Luo attended a breakfast meeting. Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong was present along with heads and ministers of states including <st1:country-region w:st="on">Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The meeting took place at CAMCE-invested Dongchang Hotel.
